Family shopping
A shared shopping list grouped by store aisle: check items off with one tap and see who bought what; lists, templates and a weekly menu from which the agent works out what is missing at home.
Families or flatmates who take turns doing the shopping and text each other “get milk”; anyone who plans the week’s meals.
These are examples, not the limit: your agent will build any data model your task needs.
What it is for
“Get milk” gets lost in the family chat, half the list is remembered at the checkout, and nobody knows who has already bought bread until two people come home with two loaves.
Here the family shares one list grouped by aisle in the order you walk the store: an item is checked off with one tap and moves to “Bought” with who checked it and when — everyone else sees it at once. Lists for the week and the cottage, a template for the weekly shop; the agent turns messages into items and builds the shopping from the weekly menu minus what is at home.
How it looks in colabro
On the sample data the workspace is created with.
This week’s dishes by day. Select a dish to see its products below; how much to buy is shown in the “At home” tab.
| Day | Dish | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Borscht | for two days |
| Saturday | Cottage cheese pancakes | for breakfast |
| Sunday | Beef pilaf |

What the agent does
You
Add milk, bread and everything for borscht.
AgentTakes the borscht products from the “Weekly menu”, subtracts what is in “At home”, and in one change set adds milk, bread and whatever is missing to “This week” — each in its aisle, with the note “for borscht”.
ResultAdded milk, bread, cabbage 0.5 kg and beef 0.75 kg; beetroot, potatoes and carrots for borscht are already at home.
You
Now build the shopping from the menu minus what’s at home.
AgentAdds up the products of all the menu dishes, subtracts what is at home and what is already in “This week”: adds what is missing and, for the beef already on the list, adjusts the amount instead of creating a second item.
ResultAdded carrots 250 g and cottage cheese 300 g, beef is now 1.5 kg; eggs and rice are at home.
You
Move what’s left to next week.
AgentCreates the list “Next week” and in one change set moves the unchecked items of “This week” into it.
Result5 items in the new list; what was bought stays in “This week” with who checked it and when.
Ask your agent to make one
Copy the request and send it to your agent: it creates the workspace and fits it to you.
Create a colabro workspace “Family shopping” from the example shopping: a shopping list by aisle, lists and templates, a weekly menu and what we have at home. Match the aisles to our store and ask me anything unclear in one go.
For the agent to do it, connect it to colabro: Connect an agent.
Use this example
You can create the workspace with sample data after you sign in; you will come back to this page.
What people usually adjust
- Aisles (section on items and on products): put them in the order you walk through your store — reorder the enum values in both types and the checklist shows its groups in the same order.
- Lists are yours: “This week”, “Cottage”, “Party”. Keep what you buy every time as a template (a list with “Template” on): “New list ▾ From a template” creates a list with the items already in it. If it is the same list every week, “Uncheck all” is enough.
- Packing for a trip: the same checklist with the aisles replaced by “Documents”, “Clothes”, “First aid”, “Kids” (or groups by person: a relation from the item to a member and group on it); label the check with x-labels {"true": "Packed", "false": "To pack"}; a “Trip” template holds what you always take.
- Day checklist (moving house, a party, renovation): to-do items with “When” (a string like “10:30”) and “Who” (a relation to a person) fields, with group set to “Who” and note to “When” in the view: everyone gets their own group, and “No “Who”” shows what is still unassigned.
- No menu or pantry: delete the dish, ingredient and product types and the “Weekly menu” and “At home” tabs — the checklist works on its own.
- The sample lists, dishes and stock are made up: delete them once you add your own.
